Category : Trek
Duration : 8 Days
Location : Himachal
Season : Monsoon (july - sep)

A short trek which leads from the lush greens of the Kullu
valley to the barren landscape of the Chandra valley. The trail
goes right up to the base of the high mountains of Deotibba and
Indrasan (both 6000m plus) peaks and crosses over at the Hampta
Pass.
Day 01: Drive Delhi to Manali (2050m) 10-11 hrs.
Day 02: Prini to Panduropa (2800m) 4-5 hrs.
From the village of Prini it is all the way uphill to the
village of Saythen. There are fine views down the Kullu valley.
After Saythen the trail levels out and enters the narrow
forested valley.
Day 03: Panduropa to Chikha (3270m) 4-5 hrs.
Now we are in the high country above the tree line. We cross
several side streams before descending to the Hampta river which
usually has a snow bridge or there would be log to cross set by
the shepherds. We camp at the beautiful meadow dotted by
colourful alpine flowers.
Day 04: Chikha to Valu ka Ghar (3700m) 3-4 hrs
A short day we camp just before the pass.
Day 05: Valu ka Ghar to Hampta Pass (4270m) to Siliguri
(3750m) 6-7 hrs
A steep climb over tscree slopes and boulder fields leads us to
the Hampta Pass which offers beautiful views of Deo Tibba and
Indrasan ( both 6000m peaks). A steep descent on the rocky
slopes which could be quite dangerous at some points brings us
to our campsite at Silliguri.
Day 06: Siliguri to Chatru (3360m) 3-4 hrs
A couple of river crossings and a steep descent all the way
brings us to a small settlement of Chattru on the banks of the
Chandra river. Overnight camp.
Day 07: Drive Chatru to Manali (2050m) 2-3 hrs
Day 08: Drive Manali to Chandigarh and board the evening
Shatabdi to Delhi.
